DIY: Preserve Butterflies & Flowers "Stained Glass" Inspired Wall Art
Hey Sloabie Nation!
Rejoice for another DIY! I've been hanging out at some of the art pop up shows in Houston, and I've seen a lot of mounted preserved butterflies in really pretty gothic/vintage frames. I wanted to buy one, but as it turns out--they were going for $30-$70 (dependent on sizing and specimen). This brought me back to my old biology days where we'd go through boxes and boxes of old plants, insects, and organic specimens. We'd study each one, and wondered who was the scientist that started to look into these creatures. Life was simpler back then, and there are moments when I yearn to go back to that life.
Since I've moved back into my home here in Houston, TX, I love incorporating nature into home decor, but I also don't want to actually disturb it by capturing my own bugs and mounting them. The rad thing is, I got to team up with GraphicStock.com on their #Creator2Creator initiative to create these really pretty lit up wall art for my office space and I am super ecstatic to share it with you guys!! Super shouts to them for sponsoring my DIY video because it's super awesome and honoring to do what I love!

I use stock images, footages, and fonts for many of my designs. Sometimes, it just helps to have something there for you to build upon, versus starting completely from scratch! Remember, its #Creator2Creator and that's how we can all grow creatively. If you guys are ever in Houston, please take a minute to check out the Harwin area of Houston, TX. They sell wholesale craft stuff, for a really affordable price. You can buy them wholesale or you can buy them individually. It's where I like to get a lot of my beads and craft items when I am in a pinch and don't want to wait for Prime. I get asked plenty where I get my stuff; so just thought I'd drop this tip for you all!
